It's Not All About You,Calma! - Barry Jonsberg
This is the stand alone sequel to "The Whole Business with Kiffo and the Pitbull" which starred witty and sarcastic Calma. This is a humorous story about friendship, loyalty and acting on impulse. The book ends with an unexpected twist and Calma learns some lessons about making hasty judgements.

Recommended for older readers

“My goodness, Calma. Those pimples look angry. Are you washing your face properly, dear?'
Not knowing she was one remark away from hospitalisation due to an unfortunate accident with my fingers and her eyes, Mrs. Elliott continued blithely.”

“It’s Not All About You, Calma!” is the hilarious sequel to “The Whole Business With Kiffo and the Pitbull” that once again tracks the life and times of Calma Harrison, a lively teenage girl living in tropical Queensland.

Calma’s life isn’t all plain sailing, her long absent father turns up wanting to talk with her mother, The Fridge, who Calma suspects is keeping secrets from her. And to add to the situation her best friend is hiding something terrible.

These problems lead Calma to get involved, leading to some hilarious results. A fantastic book, which should capture the hearts and minds of all young people who read it.

I found this book a very interesting read because it is not something i would normally pick up and read.
I also found this book very good because it was very unpredictable at times, which made it very good.
It was good how it was unpredictable because you could never predict what was going to happen next, which is always good!

The book ‘It’s not all about you, Calma!’ by Barry Jonsberg very appealing because it never gets boring and something is always happening.
The book is set in the current time, in a little town in Queensland. The main characters throughout the book include Calma, Vanessa, Jason and ‘The Fridge’. The book is about many issues in life including:
Calma meeting a ‘handsome’ checkout guy at Crazi-Cheep, then Calma deciding to get a job at Crazi-Cheep. Calma then meets her absent father and finds out that he wants to ‘talk’ to her mother.
Calma realizes that her mother ‘The Fridge’ is keeping secrets from her and her best friend Vanessa is hiding something horrible from her, Calma wants to help so she thinks the best way to help is to confront them.
I liked this book because it is different and not something I would normally read and I also found the book quite funny at times.

It's not all about you Calma is a book that sets out to be funny and it succeeds with some truly hilarious scenes perhaps the most memoriable being the hold up at Crazi-Cheep. It does live up to expectataions in that respect.

However our hero Calma is not engaging at all. She seems to have a god complex- the world resolves around her. And though by the end of the book she does acknowledge that the world does not resolve around her. As well as she can be wrong on occassion it is too late, Calma is a person to be taken in small doses and so is the book.
