Helicopter Man - Elizabeth Fensham
A poignant story of a young boy at the point of realizing his father is suffering from schizophrenia. Told in the first person through Pete's diary it gives an incredible insight into this mental illness. At first it is a bewildering time for Pete and his father, but once the illness is diagnosed it becomes a healing time.

Recommended for younger readers

“Helicopter Man” is a diary of a boy called Pete, and his Dad. Pete’s Diary gives you a great insight into his life. Pete’s Dad believes that they are being chased by a secret organization, but after many years of moving around in secret Pete is tired, and begins to question his dad. The truth behind the secret organization will shock you, and keep you guessing throughout the whole book.

Elizabeth Fensham has written this book extremely well, and keeps the suspense up and going during the whole book. The book is artistically written and makes you feel like you are part of the experience. Elizabeth gives the readers a real sense of what it is like to have schizophrenic in the family. All though I have not finished reading the book I feel that it will keep developing further in turn making “Helicopter Man” a well written, fabulous book.
